Top 5 Podcasts for Pregnancy
I’ve always been a fan of podcasts, both as another tool for learning and to simply shut off from the world whilst out on a run or walk.
When it comes to pregnancy, there are SO many things changing and it can be pretty overwhelming. I’ve found that listening to others’ stories, experiences and advice really helps and so without further ado, here are my top 5 podcasts to listen to during pregnancy.
Happy Mum, Happy Baby. The ever-lovely Giovanna Fletcher offers up ‘frank and warm conversations with other high-profile mums and dads…discusses all aspects of parenthood - the highs, the lows, the challenges and rewards. There is no such thing as the perfect parent, and we’re all simply doing our best.’ One of my all time favourite episodes is an oldie from 2018 with Davina McCall talking all things birth, body image and mum guilt. Other guests include Joe Wicks, Richard and Judy, Dawn O’Porter and Emma Willis.
Made By Mummas. Zoe Hardman and Georgia Dayton discuss their favourite products and go-to brands plus their own experiences bringing up their babies. The duo get famous faces and experts on the podcast to cover a whole host of topics, one of my favourites is May 2020’s episode with Women’s Health Physio Clare Bourne - packed full of practical pelvic floor advice.
The Pregnancy Wellness Podcast. Host Pip Morrish is a practising midwife in the UK with a wealth of experience guiding soon-to-be parents through all aspects of pregnancy, birth and the fourth trimester. It’s clear that Pip is passionate about all things health and wellness and how these feed into having a happy, healthy pregnancy. This is a recent find for me but I’m quickly catching up on past episodes and benefitting from it’s content - a perfect blend of information and real-life tales of pregnancy and parenthood.
Well Far. Technically a running podcast but host Amy Lane has recently had a little one of her own and shares her experience of pregnancy as a whole, not just an honest account of how she continued running through her pregnancy. Another one that gets a great mix of experts and ‘influencers’ in the health and fitness industry with a recent mini-series focus on making your return to running postpartum.
Mum Talk Podcast. The tagline says it al l really: ‘honest, real, informative conversation from pregnancy to parenthood. Joined by experts, Mums and Dads sharing the highs and lows’.
Maybe Baby. This is another recent discovery of mine but it’s become a firm favourite. It’s much more conversational than my other recommendations above but the hilarious hosts, Kate Lawler and Bodge, first share their journey making the decision to start a family and later (spoiler alert!!!) speak to a collection of parents about their pregnancy, birth and parenthood experiences as they prepare to welcome their own little one into the world. Lots of laugh out loud moments and some great insight into life with a newborn!
BONUS listen: Big Fat Positive. This one is American so some of the information given doesn’t match that given to those of us in the UK but it’s light, it’s fun and follows two friends as they progress through their pregnancies together week-by-week.
